RII Scientific Secretary

Tamara Lobova joined RII in 1983 after graduating from St. Petersburg I. I. Mechnikov State Medical Academy. During her scientific career she worked as a junior and, later, senior researcher being engaged in analysis of influenza etiology. In 1989 she earned PhD degree in virology.

Professional activities of Dr. Lobova include serological diagnosis of influenza infection, influenza virus isolation, characterization of antigenic structure of agents responsible for influenza epidemics in Russia. Due to high quality of investigations, carried out employing the most up-to-date techniques, she contributed significantly to understanding of influenza virus variability trends.

Dr. Lobova was a participant of the international project on improvement of influenza surveillance in Russia accomplished in 2006-2010 (Collaborator – CDC, USA). Dr. Lobova’s results of research were reflected in more than 50 publications, including 1 monograph, 2 medical guidelines, and 1 patent for invention.

For a period, since 1999 to 2007 Dr. Lobova performed duties of the RII Dissertation Council Secretary. For her achievements, Tamara Lobova was distinguished with Honorary Certificates.
